How to bypass Fortnite’s jailbreak detection

Epic Games launched Fortnite a few days back for iOS 11. However, jailbreak users can’t play it due to the game’s built-in cheat detection. Here’s how you can bypass this restriction and play the game without any hassle.

HOW DOES FORTNITE DETECT JAILBREAK?
Just like other App Store apps, Fortnite, too, comes with its own jailbreak detection system.

As you know, multiplayer games try to keep hackers and cheaters on a short leash. Developers go to great lengths to ban such players in order to ensure a level playing field for all players.

Jailbreak tweaks such as iGameGuardian and others allow users to hack almost any game they can get their hands on.

Therefore, Epic Games have implemented a DRM to prevent jailbroken players from running the game.

Fortnite’s latest version detects during launch time the following files on your Apple device –

  • bzip2
  • cat
  • chmod
  • chown
  • cp
  • gzip
  • ls
  • mv
  • su
  • tar

Once these files are detected, the game fails to run. Now that we know how its jailbreak detection works, we can easily bypass it by removing the aforementioned files.

  • Warning – DO NOT try this method if you are a beginner or unfamiliar with how file managers work. Also, don’t respring without restoring the bin files.

REQUIREMENTS

  • iPhone or iPad
  • iOS 11 firmware
  • Filza file manager
  • Electra jailbreak
  • Cydia

BYPASSING FORTNITE’S JAILBREAK DETECTION SYSTEM ON IPHONE/IPAD
METHOD 1
Step 1 Open Filza and navigate to the root (/) folder.

Step 2 Rename the bin folder to something else, for example, “binn”.

This method has been confirmed to work on iOS 10-10.3.3 firmware. You can also safely try it on iOS 11. If it doesn’t work for you, try the following method.

METHOD 2
Step 1 Open Filza file manager. If you don’t have it installed on your device, you can grab it from this tigisoftware.com/cydia/ repo.

Step 2 Go to the root (/) directory of your device.

Step 3 Long press the bin folder and tap Copy.

Step 4 Since this is an important file, having a backup copy ready at all times is imperative. Paste this file to any location, for example, /var on your device’s filesystem as a backup.

Step 5 Go to the original bin folder and tap Edit and then select all files present in this location by tapping the circle icon at the top-right corner.

Step 6 Scroll down and deselect df and ps files. You must not remove these files.

Step 7 Delete all files except these two by tapping Trash. Remember, deleting all files from this folder will render Electra and Cydia useless unless you put them back (which we will be dealing with later).

Step 8 You can now launch Fortnite and play it while keeping your jailbreak.

Step 9 (Optional) Once you want to install Cydia tweaks or applications, you must restore the bin files from the backup location. To do that, go to your backup location and select all the necessary files and copy them to bin. If you didn’t back that folder up, download it from this link.

Just ensure these files are not in that folder when you play Fortnite.

METHOD 3 (WORKING)
Step 1 Open Cydia and go to Sources > Edit > Add.

Step 2 Type in the address of Akusio’s source – http://akusio.github.io.

Step 3 Download the “fortnite bypass” package from this repo. Before you install it, ensure you are running version 5.0.0 of the Fortnite app on your iPhone.

You should now be able to play Fortnite without any jailbreak or hack detection prompts bugging you. This is the only bypass that is working as of right now but that could change in the future.

DID IT WORK FOR YOU?
This method works on all devices on iOS 11 because Fortnite can no longer detect those files.

If this method doesn’t work for you, I suggest waiting for a tweak-based patch.

Coolstar and LaughingQuoll are working on one and they have also got it working on an iPad.

Although there’s no official release date yet, this patch should hopefully be released very soon.
